On May 12, SHRM was the exclusive sponsor of an event with the CQ-Roll Call Group titled “The State of the Workforce in the New Economy.” SHRM’s president and CEO Lon O’Neil opened and closed the program, which was the first of a number of policy discussions planned for 2010.
SHRM’s sponsorship of this forum helps position SHRM and the HR community as an advocate, adviser and thought leader on key workplace issues, particularly among Washington policy-makers.
Participants in the program examined legislation for job creation, the state of the workforce, the changing needs and expectations of workers, and the need for innovative workplace policies. A panel discussion was moderated by Morton Kondracke of Roll Call.
